The CAP in Early Childhood Education and Care (AEPE) is a program that prepares students to work with young children, equipping them with the essential skills to ensure the children’s well-being and development.
Conduct early childhood development and enrichment activities that help children socialize, become more independent, and acquire language skills
Perform daily care activities that help meet the child’s physiological needs and ensure their physical and emotional well-being
Carry out activities related to collaboration with parents and other professionals, taking into account ethical considerations that enable an appropriate professional approach

Holders of the CAP in Early Childhood Education and Care (AEPE) are qualified professionals competent in the care and supervision of young children. They may work in a home setting (their own home or the parents’ home) or in group settings (preschool, daycare center, drop-in daycare, after-school care, day camp, group children’s vacation center, home
for child care providers, and any other facility providing care for young children).
Duration
1 year, from late August to June (end of exams)
Standard program: 392 hours at a training center
Total course duration: 451 hours, including general education courses, for students without a prior degree
Rhythm
A minimum 14-week internship at early childhood education facilities
A minimum of 3 weeks working with each age group (0–3 years, 3–6 years)

Practice exams during the program
The degree program consists of seven course units, each of which corresponds to a set of competencies. Each unit is assessed through an exam. To earn the degree, students must achieve an average grade of at least 10 out of 20 across all exams. Passed exams remain valid.
Diploma/certification
Level 3 Vocational Qualification Certificate in "Early Childhood Education Assistant," registered with the RNCP under number 38565, by decision of the Director General of France Compétences dated January 22, 2024, issued by the Ministry of National Education and Youth, NSF code 332
