Last December, The Land campus in Rennes was awarded eco-garden certification. This certification recognizes sites committed to a comprehensive approach to ecological management.
The audit, carried out by an independent external body, examines the management and use of green spaces according to a standardized code of conduct with a reference framework comprising sevenareas, including site planning and integration, soil, water, fauna and flora, furniture and materials, equipment, training, and public awareness.
Particular attentionis paid to managing consumption (water, electricity, fuel), signage, etc., but also and above all to differentiated management, the aim of which is to differentiate modes of action and intervention according to use. Thus,at theRennessite, we find structured spaces, transitional spaces, and preserved natural spaces.
In France, 577 sites have beenawarded the EcoJardin label, including just over a hundred schools. With a score of 77/100, this prestigious certification, awarded by the ARB (Regional Biodiversity Agency), recognizes the work of the landscaping sector, as well as all the sectors and stakeholders working to improve knowledge of biodiversity andto beautify and maintain the Rennes site as a livingenvironment that respectsthe floraand fauna.
An ecological benchmark
The EcoJardin label, a true benchmark for ecological management, rewards a comprehensive approach to ecological management and promotes a commitment to continuous improvement. The EcoJardin initiative brings together project owners, project managers, scientific and technical experts, professional networks, associations, and institutions to coordinate and monitor its activities.
It benefits from the support of the French Biodiversity Agency as part of the Ecophyto plan, which is backed by the Ministry for Ecological and Solidarity Transition. This distinction allows the Rennes site to join the ranks of the greats in terms of ecological sites and to make it known beyond its training activities and the borders of Brittany.
Granted for three years, the site will be audited again in 2023.
