Ruralities No. 4: Living and thinking about your region

To kick off the debate on the 2026 municipal elections / The latest issue of RURALITE magazine is out now!

The new issue of Ruralités magazine, published by Editions Ouest-France in collaboration with The Land School of Management was unveiled at the National Agriculture and Food Conference. An original title that brings together the work of daily newspaper journalists with the reflections of intellectuals, thinkers, and actors in the field. Another way of looking at our countryside.

This issue focuses on questioning democratic vitality, particularly through the human dynamics that permeate our countryside. With municipal elections approaching, rural areas seem to be oscillating between a certain form of stagnation—the result of highly centralized power and increasingly restrictive standards—and, at the same time, the possibility of a genuine democratic renewal. Far from partisan clashes, the mayor of small villages is chosen above all for his or her local roots, ability to forge links, and genuine closeness to constituents.

Contributors to this issue include G Halpern, JM Esnault, Gaspard Koenig, and other philosophers, economists, leaders, and figures from the worlds of economics, politics, and civil society.
