The Golden Roosters of the New Rurality

Winners of the first edition of the Coqs d’Or awards for new rurality

With the sponsorship of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, The Land launched the Coqs d'Or de la Nouvelle Ruralité (Golden Roosters of New Rurality). The aim of this first edition was to reward remarkable initiatives, innovations, and businesses in rural areas around four themes: environment, entrepreneurship, social ties, and culture.

As a reminder, the call for applications was launched at the end of December for a period of three months.

On March 15, the jury, composed of Erik Orsenna, Pierre Bonte, Yolaine de la Bigne, Elena Maneru, Jean-Marc Esnault, Antoine Juvin, André Greze, and Auguste Coudray, met to select the five winners.

On April 7, the awards ceremony took place in the presence of the jury members and 200 guests.

Cerfrance Brocéliande, represented by Jean-Luc Serrand, OPCO, represented by Georges-Eric Leroux, Emmaüs, represented by Annik Pujols, Yves Rocher, represented by Cyril Reynard, and Le Village by CA, represented by Carole Gourmelon, presented the winners with five trophies.

Who are they?

Category: Culture, City of Joy:

Ville à Joie is breathing new life into rural communities in an innovative way by bringing back activity, local services, and social ties through traveling village festivals (a mix of village festival and service fair). The innovation of the Ville à Joie model also stems from its ability to mobilize young people under the age of 25 to revitalize villages, a demographic that has traditionally left these areas.

Category: Social Cohesion, ReNouveau paysan:

ReNouveau Paysan is contributing to the new rurality by helping local authorities, social landlords, and agricultural organizations to rethink the farms of tomorrow. Golden Rooster, Campacity:

The Campacity association was created with the idea that local authorities, with which businesses and associations can partner, have the power to act to renew dialogue through a well-known concept: twinning! Campacity works to serve:

  • Education through the Little Reporters project in cities and rural areas
  • economic cooperation in the areas of food, housing, tourism, and the environment
  • sharing sporting, gastronomic, or cultural events

How does it serve rural areas?

This project serves rural areas by addressing the overall issue of territorial balance and cohesion. The idea behind the project stems from a well-known initiative, twinning, adapting it to connect towns and villages and structuring it to provide methodological support, without division and in the common interest.

The project brings together elected officials, private companies, brands, associations, and citizens. Campacity aims to expand nationwide by providing methodology and support to local authorities, but also by serving as a communication tool to report on actions and interests in order to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas.
