The Colloquium is an event organized by The Land, with this year's theme being 

" Agriculture: a key factor in tackling environmental challenges? "

It will address the environmental impacts of globalized agriculture, the crucial role of science and technology in promoting environmentally friendly agriculture, and the evolution of the farming profession to meet the environmental challenges of tomorrow.This day is dedicated to reflection, debate, and sharing, with renowned experts, thinkers, and economic, political, and institutional actors.

The speakers

Philippe Dessertine is an associate professor, professor at the Institute of Business Administration at Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University, director of the Institute of High Finance in Paris, founding director of the Finagri Chair (Financing Investment in Agriculture, scientific observatory for green and sustainable finance emissions), and president of Comité 21. He was one of the eleven founding members of the High Council of Public Finance.

In June 2022, he edited the collective workUn président devrait faire cela (A President Should Do That), published by Éditions Télémaque.

Walter Bouvais is an entrepreneur.

He co-founded Open Lande, a company that mobilizes, trains, and supports professionals and leaders of businesses and regions in their ecological transformation projects, toward regenerative businesses and regions. Founded in Nantes, Open Lande is expanding into several cities and regions in France.

He is also an author and lecturer on economics and regeneration. In a previous life, he was a newspaper editor and co-founded and ran Terra Eco, a pioneering French-language newspaper on ecological transition. He also helped found the 1% Club for the Planet in France.

André Comte-Sponville is a French philosopher, author, and lecturer whose work has been translated into more than thirty languages. Describing himself as a "faithful atheist," his public appearances aim to provide philosophical insight into the challenges facing businesses today. 

A former student of the ENS and holder of an agrégation in philosophy, he taught in high school before defending his thesis in 1983 at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. He became an assistant professor and then a lecturer until the early 2000s. He devotes his time to writing books and giving lectures.

Jean-Marc Esnault is the CEO of The Land, a space for training, reflection, culture, and social and entrepreneurial innovation. He is the founding president of the "La Terre et les Hommes" endowment fund and the "Terre d'avenir" think tank. 

He regularly contributes to the press and is co-founder of the magazine Ruralités, published by Éditions Ouest-France. L’Homme face aux défis du monde contemporain (Man Facing the Challenges of the Contemporary World) is his new book, to be published by Éditions L’harmattan.
