The second annual geopolitics conference hosted by The Land School of Management was held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in the campus atrium, with the theme “The Oceans at the Heart of Contemporary Strategic Issues.” The choice of this topic by third-year Bachelor’s students in the Department of Tourism, Humanitarian Studies, and Social Innovation—long before the events in the Strait of Hormuz—demonstrates a keen understanding of major global geopolitical issues.
The guest on this episode was Captain Rémi de Monteville, Commander of the Navy in Nantes–Saint-Nazaire and the Pays de la Loire region. This senior officer has previously commanded several prestigious vessels of the French Navy across the world’s oceans.
During the lecture, he captivated the audience that had gathered for this highlight of the school’s academic year. Captain Rémi de Monteville provided insights into the complexity of the issues at hand, which can only be fully grasped through hands-on experience. He answered questions in detail, both during the lecture and at the reception hosted by the students to conclude the event.
Following the first edition of the conference, which focused on the geopolitics of critical materials and featured Professor Kasongo Ngoy, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to France, and this year’s event, attention is now turning to the third edition, which will take place next April.
