The Parliament of Brittany lights up

From July 19 to August 23, the façade of the Parliament of Brittany becomes the screen for an original sound and light show. At nightfall, the historic monument comes alive with colorful visual projections that recount, sometimes with humor, sometimes with poetry, episodes from local history or dreamlike fictions.

This free show, combining heritage and artistic creation, is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the summer in Rennes.

Culture at your fingertips

Rennes is full of cultural venues that remain open throughout the summer and offer a variety of temporary exhibitions. Among the must-sees are:

  • The FRAC Bretagne (link), with its exhibitions dedicated to contemporary art and its often immersive installations.
  • The Museum of Fine Arts (link), where classical works and contemporary creations engage in dialogue.
  • Les Champs Libres (link), which houses the Musée de Bretagne, a library, a science center, and numerous exhibitions for all audiences.

Nature and freshness: heading for the water

When temperatures rise, what could be better than spending some time by the water? There are several options available to residents of Rennes.

For those who prefer the sea, a getaway to Saint-Malo, Cancale, or Dinard is a must. By train or car, it's easy to reach the coast for a day at the beach, a stroll, or a gourmet break on a terrace.

Two festivals not to be missed

The Rock Route – Saint-Malo

An iconic independent music festival, La Route du Rock is traditionally held around August 15. Spread between Fort Saint-Père and Bon Secours beach, the event offers a demanding and international lineup in a unique setting. For fans of rock, electronic music, and musical discoveries, it's an unmissable event.

The King Arthur Festival – Bréal-sous-Montfort

On August 24, the Festival du Roi Arthur will celebrate another edition dedicated to music, conviviality, and local engagement. Born from the initiative of a group of friends, the festival is now one of the major summer events west of Rennes. It stands out for its eclectic program, strong local roots, and organization that is 100% volunteer-driven.
